Obama: The First Female President? (No.)

I agree with Hillary Clinton: This is fun.
The part of a campaign where it gets borderline dirty. When the candidates try to outmanuever each other's talking points and spin, try to use the news cycles against one another, and generally (slightly) misrepresent reality all for the sake of winning at the polls.
You might think I'm being snarky, but I'm not. I really like arguing. This is the best part of the campaign besides the inauguration, and it's really just too bad that -- since someone had to lose -- the sparring partner here had to be Hillary fans.
But it's pretty much over now, I think. The fun might be at an end. After months of assuming Hillary would be the nominee, today I finally figured that Obama had a pretty good shot. And so the age of my snarky cheap shots at Hillary* may be coming to an end...
And what will take the place of my beloved snark?
A criticism of idiocy like this:
Obama: The First Woman President?
Obama's campaign bends gender conventions
This is a Newsweek article.
W. T. F? No, no. HILLARY CLINTON bent gender conventions in 1992 by refusing to the a first Stepford wife. She's bending them now by being a highly competitive candidate. Obama does not get to "bend gender conventions" in a race where he's competing with Hillary Clinton. That's just idiotic
The article continues:
It has been a rarity in modern political life: a wide-open race for the nomination of both parties. But whatever happens from here on out, this campaign will always be remembered for the emergence of the first serious woman candidate for president: Barack Obama.
Obama is a female candidate for president in the same way that Bill Clinton was the first black president.
Time out to note that this is note the Onion. It's Newsweek. Ok:
But he is pushing against conventional—and political party nominating convention—wisdom in five important ways, with approaches that are usually thought of as qualities and values that women bring to organizational life: a commitment to inclusiveness in problem solving, deep optimism, modesty about knowing all the answers, the courage to deliver uncomfortable news, not taking on all the work alone, and a willingness to air dirty linen.
It continues on thus. This is the stupidest article I've ever read in my entire life. It mocks and oversimplifies the role of women (whatever that means, if indeed such a thing exists). It completely disrespects Hillary's accomplishments. It, in fact, frames Hillary as the man in the race just so it can perversely use her perceived strengths to frame women how it wants to. It doesn't really do Obama any favors either.
Stupidity. How much stupidity there is...
And now that the primary game has (apparently) run its course, I can make snarky comments about the whole wide spectrum of stupidity again. Glory be, it's a new day.
*Snarky cheap shots at Mark Penn and the other parasites clinging onto Hillary will continue.
