Online resources for Iraq War blogging

Tue Feb 26, 2008 at 10:48:15 PM PDT

Two good resources I've found. Many may be aware of them but it never hurts to make sure that everyone is aware. Lots of hyperlinks in this diary, so try not to get confused. There are only two main sites and most of the links are to particular pages on those sites.

First off, Global Security, which offers an in-depth look at the US military presence in Iraq. Includes sections on occupation and reconstruction, Iraqi military, and the various military operations since invasion. Additionally the site includes information about potential US strikes on Iran, the Saudi line of succession, and a mass of info on Gitmo. The site is absolutely indispensible, ignore it at your own peril.

The other site is run by the National Priorities Project, which is a fantastic site for finding out local effects of national tax and spending policies. This particular NPP sponsored site is called The Cost of War, which is pretty self-explanatory (try it out, you can find out the cost of the war in YOUR SPECIFIC REGION of your state). I hope that you'll put their counter javascript in your site, and I hope Kos finds a place for it on the front page.

[Note: I first posted this diary about two and a half years ago.]
